Meet the Publisher
Golf Times Founder and Publisher, Chance Leith, was born and raised in the Golf capital of the world Myrtle Beach, SC on June 2, 1986. After taking up the game at age 10, his game progressed rapidly enough to start playing competitively the following year. Chance toured on the AJGA and PJGT for 3 years. After much success on the junior tours he began playing Varsity Golf for North Myrtle Beach High School. He was only in 7th grade playing on the Varsity team amongst much older players.
After several accomplishments on a High School level, he enrolled in the Golf Academy of America (Myrtle Beach Campus). After earning his degree and several other Certificates such as Methods of Teaching, he began competing in mini-tours such as the Tar heel Tour, now known as the E-Golf Tour, all over the Carolinas and Virginia. He also played on a more local level with the Grand Strand Tour.
Chance now resides in the Carolina Forest area with his wife, Pamela Leith, and their three beautiful children – Josslyn, Ayden and Rhylan. His office is in the heart of Myrtle Beach and works everyday to make Golf Times the best it can be. “Life is good,” says Publisher, Chance Leith. “I would’ve never imagined that Golf Times would of taken me this far and I feel that there is so much more ground to cover.”
Birth of Golf Times Magazine
Golf Times Magazine was initially founded and started in November 2008. Its purpose was to fund Chance’s playing career. However, there were other plans in the works. The publication’s first print was January 2009 on a 16 page tab, half color and half back and white. It was distributed to any place that would take it. Golf Times began printing every 6 weeks and started to gain traction in the Myrtle Beach area. By 2010, the page count was 24 and made it to 32 pages shortly after in 2011.
The “Ultimate Golfer’s Guide along the Grand Strand” was in stride and became a staple in Myrtle Beach by 2013. Golf Times had some of the top businesses around advertise with them and started several distribution strategies such as Golf Courses, grocery stores, convenience stores, bars, grills, restaurants, attractions, hotels, resorts etc.
Since Spring 2015, Golf Times is publishing a quarterly, 48 Page full color tab that’s more widely distributed than ever. There are over 50 businesses trusting Golf Times Magazine to advertise their business and drive golfers through the door. In Fall 2015, Golf Times Magazine announced that they are now offering franchises around the country. Chance believes in passing the dream on to other golf entrepreneurs, from all walks of life, to do what they love and love what they do.
